Safety critical and operational critical solutions
Safety critical and operational critical solutions are both areas where the demands on the products are extremely high. Safety critical products are defined by errors in function may result in large damages on human beings, equipment or the environment. Operational critical products are when errors cannot be tolerated, however they do not result in direct injury on human beings or equipment.
Common for the two are, that a range of precautions has to be taken during development and manufacturing:
- RAMS-analysis
- Risk analysis
- Redundant software and hardware
- Faulsafe or faultolerant solutions
- Large safety factors
- Automated tests
- Tracability throughout the product life cycle
- SIL classification
